03 – VRA 7 Deployment – Minimal Environment

  1. Login to VRA appliance VAMI page

    https://<vra applianceIP> : 5480

    username : root

    password : <your password provided during deploying VRA OVA>

    VRA Deployment wizard will automatically popup ( if it does not happen immediately ,wait for few more seconds)

     

     

    Accept license agreement and click next
    VRA depicts diagramitcally the difference between Minimal deployment and Enterprise deployment
    Select Enterprise Deployment for production environments
    for home labs/POCs minimal deployment suits for most of the cases
    Deployment wizard automatically discovers the Windows machines if Management agent is installed

     

    Download the management agent from the link and copy to Windows VM
    Install management agent
    Accept license agreement and click next
    Click next
    provide vra appliance address username(root) and password Click Load, if credentials are correct SHA1 fingerprint will be automatically loaded Click Next
    Provide service user account credentials
    Click Install
    Click Finish
    Once Management agent is installed, you can see the machine discovered in Deployment wizard automatically
    Provide NTP server details ( I have given my DC IP address) and click “Change Time Settings”

    Click Next
    Unlike older versions we don’t have to run powershell script on windows box. Just click on “Run” it will check whether all the pre-requisites are met
    You get message like this if pre-requisites are not met. To see more details click “Show Details”

    Click on “Fix” , Deployment wizard will automatically fix the pre-requisites

    Pre-requisites are completed
    Select “Resolve Automatically” and click next
    Provide password for “Administrator@vsphere.local” user account
    Provide the details of IaaS Host and passphrase Click Next
    Provide the details of SQL Server and Database Name. Click Validate
    If parameters are valid , Click next
    All components of IaaS will be installed on same VM Click Validate
    If parameters are valid , click Next
    Provide vCenter details Note: match agent name and endpoint name Click validate
    If parameters are valid , Click Next
    Generate SSL certificate for appliance Provide organization , OU and Country code Click “Save Generate Certificate”
    Click Next
    Generate SSL certificate for Web Server Provide organization , OU and Country code Click “Save Generate Certificate” Click Next
    Generate SSL certificate for Manager Service Provide organization , OU and Country code and Click “Save Generate Certificate”
    Now validate the settins
    If validation is successful , click Next
    Deployment wizard suggests to take snapshot of all VMS ( appliance and IaaS VMs , It is not mandatory) Click Next
    Click Install (Installation will take about 30 mins , you can grab a cup of coffee πŸ™ )
    Once Installation is completed , Click Next
    ll
    Provide license key and click Submit key
    Click Next
    Provide password for user account “configurationadmin”. (This is new in VRA7)

    Click Finish You have successfully installed VRA7 Much much better than VRA 6 installation IMO
